Subsidiary Donges Group successfully completes acquisition of FDT Group

  • Third acquisition for the platform investment Donges Group
  • FDT’s product portfolio includes flat roof solutions
  • Bolt-on acquisition complements existing product portfolio of Donges complementary

Munich/Darmstadt, March 25, 2019 – The Donges Group, a platform investment of Mutares AG (ISIN: DE000A2NB650) specializing in steel construction and high-quality roof and facade solutions, has successfully completed the acquisition of the FDT Group. With this acquisition, the Donges Group was able to further expand its position in the German and European markets. With the well-known products “Rhepanol” and “Rhenofol”, FDT is an established supplier of flat roof roof systems and ideally complements the product portfolio of the Donges Group. After completion of the add-on acquisition, the Donges Group plans to achieve total annual sales of around EUR 230 million.

Following the acquisition, the Donges Group is now concentrating on developing a comprehensive change program along five strategic pillars for the successful realignment of FDT. The sales strategy is to be redefined, the product portfolio aligned with customer and competitive requirements, foreign business optimised and structural costs made more efficient and sustainable. The fifth pillar comprises the realization of the planned synergies within the Donges Group.

With the already completed acquisitions of Kalzip and Normek, the Donges Group is now positioning itself as a European, integrated provider in German and European industrial and commercial construction. By expanding its product portfolio and the corresponding product knowledge, the Group will gain a clear unique selling proposition and will be able to offer potential customers a much more attractive depth of value added and technical expertise than its competitors. The integrated product range now includes three complementary roof and façade solutions and the possibility of combining them with steel building construction solutions.

The acquisition of FDT, following Kalzip and Normek, is already the third add-on acquisition of the Donges Group. The transaction is part of the sustainable repositioning of the portfolio company as a specialist provider of steel bridge construction, steel building construction and roof and facade solutions in the European market. Following the successful completion of the acquisition, the Donges Group expects total annual sales of around EUR 230 million and employs around 800 people in 12 countries.
