In all our decisions, we not only focus on the organic growth and sustainable success of our portfolio companies.

At Mutares, acting responsibly is anchored within the corporate values. Sustainability in actual practice goes beyond environmentally friendly measures to also cover social aspects as well as principles of good corporate governance.

Sustainability plays a fundamental role at Mutares. We signed the UN Global Compact in 2021 and are committed to respecting and implementing the ten sustainable principles set out therein. We want to promote a sustainable development worldwide.

Human Rights

Businesses should support and respect the protection of international human rights.
Companies should ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Companies should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Environment

Companies should follow the precautionary principle in dealing with environmental problems.
Companies should take initiatives to promote greater environmental awareness and responsibility.
Companies should accelerate the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption

Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.

Environmental

With the aim of minimizing our environmental impact, we implement continuous measures to reduce our CO2-footprint. Within out business context the generation of CO2-emissions is sometimes unavoidable. This is why, since 2019, we offset remaining emissions from business travel via climate protection projects through independent providers.

Our subsidiaries are committed to improving production processes with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. We actively promote the adoption of internationally recognized environmental and energy management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, across all our portfolio companies.

At our subsidiaries, we also pay attention to the implementation of environmentally friendly behavior within the production processes.

Social

Our success is based on the know-how and expertise of our dedicated employees. That´s why at Mutares the health and safety of our employees are top priority. Mutares is guided by the four principles of the labor standards of the United Nations Global Compact. Compliance with occupational health and safety is strengthened by the introduction of a “Zero Accident” safety culture.

Mutares is aware of its social responsibility. For us, living as role model and taking part in social activities are essential points of our social value framework.

Among other things, Mutares supports the important work of numerous helpers of the Ambulantes Kinderhospiz München. For this purpose, Mutares, as a Company that has always been deeply connected to the city of Munich and its people, takes over a family sponsorship. This is another sign of our commitment to humanity that goes far beyond the financial aspect of our involvement.

Governance

Mutares is committed to acting with integrity and in compliance with the law according to nationally and internationally recognized standards, assumes corporate responsibility and pays attention to the impact of its business activities. Accordingly, we have established a compliance system with a Code of Conduct for all relevant areas. Responsible, ethical business conduct with integrity is expected of all employees at all levels. This expectation also applies to third parties, such as business partners and suppliers, who contribute to the good image of our Company. Our expectations towards third parties are reflected in our Code of Conduct for Suppliers and Business Partners.

We have adopted policies for anti-corruption, capital market compliance, terrorist financing, money laundering, and data protection, among others.

The software implemented for policy management ensures that employees have access to the applicable policies at the right time.

In addition, our whistleblower portal (the “Mutares Integrity Line”) offers the possibility to anonymously report potential compliance misconduct as well as alleged human rights and environmental violations. Our Compliance department professionally and independently investigates every indication of potential miconduct by our employees or suspicions of human rights and environmental violations. This communication channel is not only available to Mutares employees, but also to third parties.

SFC Solutions

SFC Solutions works closely with OEMs to develop new technologies with a special focus on weight and component size reduction to meet the growing requirements for BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) and HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicles).

Light Mobility Solutions (LMS)

LMS takes on social responsibility and acts in accordance with the generally binding Corporate Social Responsibility Standards. This claim also applies to its business partners.

Donges Group

For the Donges Group, safety in the workplace is paramount, thus in 2019, Kalzip production set a new record with 1,000 accident-free days. The external certification for occupational safety OHSAS 18001 confirms that the well-being of Kalzip’s own employees is treated with the highest priority.

keeeper Group

The keeeper Group has developed a resource-friendly “keeeper eco line” that is made of 100% recycled plastic. The keeeper eco line is not only sustainably produced, but also sustainably disposed of and recycled after approximately 10 years. keeeper received the German government’s “Blue Angel” eco-label for the use of environmentally friendly recycled plastics and the creation of incentives for sustain- able consumption.

Elastomer Solutions

Elastomer Solutions is striving for the full integration of quality, environmental and safety system. The introduction of a Code of Ethics and Business Conduct establishes principles and values for employees.

PrimoTECS

PrimoTECS focuses on e-mobility to develop technologies for power transmission in electric vehicles and received the awards for a certified quality management (IATF 16949) and audited environmental management system (ISO 14001).

Balcke Dürr

Balcke-Dürr Group has achieved a reduction in energy consumption through an extensive LED retrofit program and a renewal of the entire heating and hot water supply in the production plant.

Gesenkschmiede Schneider

Gesenkschmiede Schneider GmbH has identified opportunities to reduce CO2 emissions by improving energy efficiency by conducting the “KEFF+” assessment of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection and Energy. The results guide Gesenkschmiede Schneider in optimizing its use of resources, saving material costs, improving production efficiency and increasing recycling, thereby reducing its environmental impact, and contributing to a more sustainable future.
