STS acquires Brazilian plant of Autoneum
The STS Group, a portfolio company of Mutares AG (ISIN: DE000A0SMSH2), acquired a production facility in Betim, Brazil, from the Swiss Autoneum Group. This recent acquisition falls in line with STS’ growth strategy to further develop into a leading global supplier.
STS has acquired a plant from Autoneum in Betim, Brazil, with 90 employees. STS will continue to supply the current client base. In addition, all existing key customers of the STS Group have production facilities in Brazil. Therefore, STS expects a strong potential for growth in the recovering Brazilian market and plans with mid-term revenues of EUR 12m.
Through its organic growth and the recent acquisitions from Autoneum, Plastic Omnium, and Mecaplast, STS becomes a global automotive supplier. The group develops and produces interior, exterior, and NVH parts for light to heavy commercial vehicles as well as for passenger cars. STS will generate revenues of EUR 400m with 2,700 employees in 16 production facilities spanning across four continents. The product portfolio perfectly complements itself and allows for a great number of synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
The acquisition of the Brazilian plant is already the second transaction of the Mutares Group with Autoneum. The Italian branch of STS was taken over from Autoneum in July 2013 and has developed outstandingly. The reciprocal trust between Autoneum and Mutares allowed for a highly cooperative and exclusive transaction process.
