Mutares signs APA with Mecaplast
Mutares AG (ISIN: DE000A0SMSH2) has signed an APA to acquire two French plants of the Mecaplast Group. The two plants generate revenues of EUR 70m by producing interior and exterior parts for trucks. Together with the acquisition of Plastic Omnium’s truck business, Mutares creates a world leading truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately EUR 400m and 2,700 employees in 15 plants.
After the approval of the workers’ representatives of Mecaplast, Mutares has signed an APA to acquire two French plants of the Mecaplast Group. The closing of the transaction will take place until the end of the year. The two profitable plants, based in Izernore and Précigné, France, generate revenues of EUR 70m with 340 employees. The order backlog of EUR 600m is anticipated to secure the full utilization for many years. The production of interior and exterior parts for trucks perfectly complements the product portfolio of STS, especially with regards to the acquisition of Plastic Omnium’s truck business.
The truck supplying business of the Plastic Omnium Group consists of five plants in France, two in China and respectively one plant in Germany and Mexico with more than 1,500 employees in total. In 2015, the plants generated a turnover of EUR 190m with exterior components and modules for truck cabins. All major European truck manufacturers belong to the customer base. The plants are located in direct proximity to its customers.
Combined with STS and the recent acquisition of the two plants of the Mecaplast Group, Mutares creates a global truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately EUR 400m and 2,700 employees in 15 plants. The new group will have locations in France, Italy, Germany, Poland, China and Mexico. The products complement each other and allow a variety of synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
